Redsox and Orioles game – extra innings.

End score: Redsox, 6 – Orioles – 5, in 11 innings.

The redsox scored 4 runs in the top of the ninth to tie up with the Orioles, now Orioles have a chance to win it.

Dustin Pedroia had a chance to drive in some runs with the bases loaded, but it turns out he failed by popping up the pitch into the air, and the catcher handling it with ease.

I will update you with the game, and give the final score when the game ends.

Updated: Orioles had a chance to win the game, but it was a 1-2-3 inning. The game now goes to the top of the tenth inning. Jason Bay had a nice diving catch to end the bottom of the ninth.

Updated, top of the tenth: Kevin Youkilis pops out to center field, one out. Next batter, Jason Bay. He striked out, currently 2 outs. Next batter, David Ortiz. He grounds out into the shift, three outs.

Updated, bottom of the tenth inning: Pitching change to Ramon Ramirez. Gregg Zaun is batting, he grounds out to first base. Next batter, Robert Andino, he pops out to right field. Next batter, Brian Roberts, 1-3 with a walk, he scored 2 runs. He strikes out. Three outs.

Updated, top of the eleventh: Jason Ellsbury hit a double down the left field line. Sac fly, and Ellsbury gets to third base. Julio Lugo is up to bat. Base hit, drives in Jason Ellsbury, game is now 6-5 redsox. J.D. Drew gets a base hit, Julio Lugo advances to second base, Drew to first. Up next, Dustin Pedroia. He grounds out, and that’s the end of the top of the eleventh.

Updated, bottom of the eleventh: Pitching change to Jonathan Papelbon. So far 1 out. Nick Markakis is batting. He pops out to left field. 2 outs. Aubrey (sp) Huff is up. He pops it up to short left field. Game over.

Added integration for wordpress, too.

I have added Wordpress integration for Posterous, so it can update my website, http://karolw.net/ whenever I make a post here. Pretty cool, eh? For now, this is just a test and we’ll see how it gets posted on my main blog. Who knows, maybe I’ll completely switch to Posterous. :)

What’s your favorite URL shortener?

Today on twitter, I asked all of my friends, what’s your favorite URL shortener?

Now, there’s many URL shorteners out there, and I only use a couple. But I asked YOU (the user). And below are the replies:

From twitter -

Snakeyes1123: @karolw I have a few. Bit.ly & popurl & is.gd

Great choices, although I haven’t tried popurl yet.

Dragon_Heart: @karolw I like tinyurl

Tinyurl is alright, but can also contain infections, and malware. To prevent that, I’ll post what Tales told me what URL shortener he uses and how to prevent infections.

From IRC –

Duffy: Karol, My favourite url shortener is ri.ms as it shortens urls to 16 characters long :) for a list of the most popular services + the about of characters they use see http://paste.tuts4tech.net/?page=view&id=1245615804

I haven’t heard of ri.ms but it looks really good. Also thanks for the links!

Bayliss: karol mine is urli.ca my buddy mike made it.

Cool, I’ve never used it, but will try in the near future.

Tales: Karol in reply to your tweet, tinyurl.com It is longer then other tinyurl services, but you can add preview.tinyurl.com/thelink to see where it really redirects to.

This is a great addition that I didn’t know about. Thanks!

And if you didn’t reply to me either on IRC or twitter, you can post a comment and I’ll include it into this post.

Gaming

Hi everyone,

To start this off, it looks like I’m going to be sick all week, bleh. But nonetheless, I will still blog.

My blog post today is about gaming. Now, it’s a very general category, and there are hundreds, if not thousands of aspects of gaming. I do like gaming, I have the ps2, which I have some MLB and guitar hero games. It’s nothing special. I also have a few gadgets/devices that I play around with, including the iPod Touch and the Blackberry. Just last friday, I got the blackberry, and I must say I do like it, but I’d much rather prefer the iPhone.

There are many gamers out there, that play non-stop. I can’t do that :s, hehe. I will wrap up this blog post by giving the link to the forum I’m on, which I post the inside scoop of games, game trailers, news/updates, and support. Links will be at the end, which has already come ;) .

Tweetdeck for iPhone

Today, Tweetdeck has released an iPhone application, which is pretty important to much of the Tweetdeck users out there. It has introduced many features to it, including:

1. Managing multiple accounts

2. Shaking the device to refresh the app

I encountered a problem when trying to install it. When I went to the app store, I searched the term “Tweetdeck” and it wasn’t there. I’ve never saw an app be in the app store and not being in the app store at the same time.

The multiple account feature is very important. It’s rare to find a free twitter app have the multiple account feature. It’s a great addition, which will drag users to the app. It has other basic features as uploading pictures to TwitPic and Yfrog.

Overall, I think it’s a great twitter app and I recommend you getting it. I’ll post the links to everything at the end, but here’s a screenshot:

Heading to Philly and twitter updates

Hello guys,

As of tomorrow, I’m going to Philadelphia for one day. It’s a class trip. What we’re going to see there varies. We’re going to the Betsy Ross house which is haunted. The haunting was confirmed by the Ghost Hunters, which has a show on SciFi every Wednesday, 9PM to 11PM. Great show.

Secondly, we’re going to the US mint which there, money can be produced. But, they don’t allow cameras, or any miscellaneous items like that. It’s alright, it’ll still be fun. On the way home, we’re going to stop by a McDonalds or Burger King. I prefer Burger King, but McDonalds still has good food. Like last year, I’m going to order a triple quarter-pounder. And yes, I’m a fatass ;) .

I’ll be gone from about 6AM to 9PM. Just don’t miss me too much!

And here are the twitter updates for today, enjoy:

Awake.

Hello there peeps,

I stumbled upon something interesting today in digg. Google has launched new TV ads in Japan. The google team in Japan decided to post it on youtube, but has grown in popularity and has now been featured in TV ads.

To me, it sounds cool, google making TV ads. I wish my blog was on a TV ad, then, I would be rich and famous. Well maybe not rich, but you have an idea ;) .

Twitter updates, and oh, spiders might be causing global warming

Hello there peeps,

Stumbled on digg and found somethin’ cool to show you fine people 8). Spiders might be causing global warming! Everyone run! Attack of the spiders!!!

The species that was studied, Pardosa glacialis, can grow to as long as 1.6 inches. For now. But the study revealed that the average size of the spiders had grown by 2% over the last ten years. That’s a significant growth rate, according to researchers.

The precise cause of the trend is still a mystery, but the growth was strongly correlated with hotter, longer summers. For instance, in years when spring came 30 days earlier, many spiders grew exoskeletons which were 10% thicker than usual. Translated for the squeamish: that means the spiders were bigger, hairier and more difficult to squash.

And they aren’t just getting larger, they’re increasing their numbers too. The study also discovered that most of the species growth happened among females. Since larger females tend to produce more offspring, that means more spiders overall.

Scientists speculate that the reasons for the enlarged, more populous arachnids may have to do with an extended hunting season. Their prime hunting season occurs during the summer months, and the longer warm period means more time to feast. Another hypothesis could be that the extended summers allow the spiders to molt more often.

More research needs to be conducted to determine if the spiders are actually being born larger. If so, then the trend could be evolutionary rather than just seasonal.

Whatever the cause, the news highlights how many of the effects of global warming could be unexpected, and it’s not yet clear how the larger, more numerous spiders could effect local ecosystems. Or human psychology, for that matter.

Interesing, eh?

Now for today’s twitter updates! Hoo-rah?
Actually, I’m not even going to bother, tweeted too much today, and lazy to post them, =D.

Take care,
